Unfortunately, this is a post of flooded imagery that is a starting point for the sort of format/layout of type that will be applied to the book brief. I do know one thing; that I will be using a sans serif typeface, something along the lines of a market deco font and a font from a time where war was simulated; the gulf war or even the cold war, since it ties in with my dissertation. It will also generate more of an appeal for the target audience I am gearing it towards.
I found a site where the manual found on the inside of a game case is glorified:
G4TV: "Game manuals used to be such an integral part of the gaming experience, so much so that games sold back to now-defunct game stores fetched a better price if they still included the game manual. Button schemes were far from universal, and trying to figure them out usually put your character at the bottom of a very deep pit. But more than button layouts, game manuals were an intricate part of the gaming experience."
I thought that this gives my idea more grounding as well as some form of social context.
